Nominate Your Favorite Newsstand
There are those of us who are passionate about newsstands. I for one regularly drop a fortune with the news agents I frequent, picking up newly minted magazines and reacquainting myself with old friends.
What makes a newsstand great? In books, movies and on television, newsstand operators are often cantankerous or wise or otherwise noteworthy personalities who interact with the main characters. In my experience, most real newsstand operators are oblivious to me and my fellow customers.
Still, I’m a news junkie and newsstands are where I get my regular fix. I’m searching for America and Southern California’s best newsstands and I plan to use my blog and radio show to call everyone’s attention to them once I find them.
I’m looking for that unique blend of selection, presentation, location, parking, and perhaps – even personality – that says, ‘this newsstand is heaven on earth for true news addicts.’
So please, nominate your favorite newsstand. It doesn’t make a difference to me where it is located. Tell me what you like best about it. Think of yourself as a trusted reviewer and newsstand aficionado who takes note of selection, cleanliness, accessibility, amenities and all other such variables.
Although I’m sure most newsstands have a legal operating name, I think most of us know them only by their address, location or intersections (i.e. the 24-hour newsstand on Robertson near Pico.) That is fine with me. Be as descriptive as possible regarding where the newsstand is located, so others can find it.

Not everyone is or would want to be a newsstand connoisseur. But for those of us who’d rather browse a newsstand than a bookstore, art gallery, or just about any other retail outlet, let me thank you in advance.
